ELTON JOHN AT THE SELFRIDGES CORNER SHOP

From iconic archive costumes to limited edition gold vinyl and exclusive product collabs – introducing the ultimate (yellow) celebration for Elton John’s ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ UK Tour – a homage to the legacy of an icon

Selfridges is excited to introduce Elton John at The Selfridges Corner Shop, transforming the creative retail space into a glittering reimagining of Elton John’s world where customers can explore the iconic performer’s archive, shop and celebrate.

The bespoke installation will be home to iconic archive costumes ranging from a designer Nudie Cohn rhinestone suit to Annie Reavey and Bob Mackie’s awe-inspiring outfits, framed prints of legendary shows and central to it all, a piano which will host a program of musical performances through the four-week take over.

With Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road UK tour kicking off in Liverpool in a matter of days (in London from 2 April 2023), Selfridges customers can discover limited edition fashion, accessories and lifestyle collaborations in-store and on Selfridges.com. Highlights include Elton x Selfridges tour merch and for the first time, Elton John Eyewear, an exclusive ‘MORE ELTON’ collection by Christopher Kane’s MORE JOY collection and a reissued polka dot suit made for Elton by Richard James.

There will also be exclusive product from KidSuper and FPM Milano, limited edition bottles of Champagne from Moet & Chandon, an Elton-inspired candle by CENT.LDN and playful plates by independent ceramicist Laetitia Rouget, featuring beloved song titles. Dr Martens will also be on-site offering fans personalised versions of their iconic 1460 Boot, inspired by Elton’s famous Pinball Wizard outfit.

To celebrate the forthcoming Honky Château 50th Anniversary Edition (released 24th March via UMR / EMI, Universal Music Group), The Selfridges Corner Shop will also be the only in-store physical retailer stocking the limited-edition gold LP version of the seminal album.

Speaking today, Elton John says “I’m truly excited to see what the Selfridges Corner Shop experience looks like now it’s being brought to life. We’ve been working closely with the teams at Selfridges and Bravado to create a unique experience that allows my fans to take a step into my world. I’m an avid shopper, so the bar has been set high and we’ve come up with something special that celebrates the things I love – fashion, vinyl, live music, food and some beautiful design. I hope my fans love it as much as I do.

The Cinema at Selfridges will host screenings of Rocket Man, inviting customers to relax into plush velvet chairs, reminisce and celebrate the life and career of Elton John.

Elton John at The Selfridges Corner Shop was brought together in collaboration with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s leading brand management division. Shop in store and at selfridges.com from 20 March 2023 for four weeks.

RESELFRIDGES SILVERWEAR

Selfridges serves up a circular Christmas Corner Shop: RESELFRIDGES Silverwear

Dressing up, gift giving, and merry making for maximum flavour with less environmental impact.

Through its Christmas scheme, Season’s Feastings, Selfridges celebrates the power of food to bring us together this festive season. From 5th December in the Corner Shop, traditional dining silverware is the inspiration for a curation of pre-loved, vintage and upcycled Silverwear, intended to be longed for and looked after once the tree has come down.

Within the Corner Shop, customers will find fashion, accessories, and lifestyle products, from £50 to £9,000 with 100% of the edit within the Reselfridges circular ecosystem. The best silver gift and partywear ideas are curated by Selfridges with Reselfridges partners including vintage jewellery specialists, Jennifer Gibson and Susan Caplan; fashion archivists Dot Comme from Melbourne and OOTO London; beautiful 1950s accessories from D.G. Jennings, streetwear by Trading Desk and partywear from Vout Vintage. This Old Thing provides finishing touches for unmissable dinner parties – silver ice buckets, spirit measures, cocktail shakers and even candelabras. Ultimate gifting suggestions include sustainable diamonds made with atmospheric carbon by Sky Diamonds, and customisable fine jewellery from Hatton Labs.

The Corner Shop itself will be silver lined and wrapped, with floor to ceiling tactile silver textures. British artist, RheaThierstein provides a showstopping centrepiece, inspired by Dali’s Cookbook – Les Dîners de Gala; a chandelier is decorated in knives and forks, serving trays, pineapples and playfully placed lobsters, wrapped in silver foil and dripping crystals, dancing against an array of disco balls.

Circular models are integral to Selfridges, now and in the future, with RESELFRIDGES offering customers new ways to shop and keep products in circulation for longer through rental, repair, resale, refill and recycle. Selfridges’ aim is that by 2030, 45% of transactions will come from circular products and services, to meet its ambitious net zero target by 2040.

The Reselfridges Silverwear Corner Shop will open until the end of the year. Season’s Feastings comes to life throughout store in the festive window displays, featuring surreal and spectacular interpretations of festive ‘foodie’ moments, and the Christmas Shop on the fourth floor, where visitors are invited to spend time savouring the festive experience and choosing ornaments that are special to them. Throughout the festive period, Santa and his Christmas Pudding Disco Dancers will be roaming store daily providing entertainment and moments of magic for customers.
