STELLA McCARTNEY LAUNCHES STELLABRATION AT THE SELFRIDGES CORNER SHOP

This Christmas, Selfridges is inviting customers to a theatrical extravaganza – Showtime!  Taking to the stage, Stella McCartney is launching an inaugural installation at the Selfridges Corner Shop, titled Stellabration’. An emotional and energetic exploration of light, joy and nostalgia, with a touch of festive drama and delight – playfully illuminating shared sustainable values, fashion and art, and imaginative takes on British festive tropes. The space harmonises a vintage aesthetic with next-generation innovations, celebrating the magic of the season from 11th to 28th December 2023.

Central to the space is The Lucky Light Show, a curation of neons from past Stella McCartney Christmas celebrations and store displays, given a second life to reduce waste during the holiday season. A conscious capsule of Stella McCartney pieces will be available at The Corner Shop, connected by iconic star details and sustainable materials – spanning ready-to-wear, Stella McCartney Kids and vegan accessories. This will sit alongside an exclusive range of festive-inspired collector’s items from the brand, plus a selection of luxury vegan chocolates by Charbonnel et Walker.

Stellabration also debuts a world-first collection of bags and footwear co-created with Veuve Clicquot, using grape by-products from the Champagne Maison’s harvest as well as recycled cork. These pioneering pieces can be pre-ordered exclusively from Selfridges, including a first-ever fashion Champagne bottle holder. Limited-edition Veuve Clicquot personalised ice jackets with Stellabration messages will also be available.

British artist Andrew Logan will have an edit of wearable art to purchase, crafted from recycled and recyclable glass exclusively for Stellabration. He has known Stella since childhood, and the two collaborated for the Summer 2024 runway show during Paris Fashion Week. Light artist Chris Levine will also have art on display, a new original piece titled ‘InterStella’ – inspired by the installation’s neon and star elements.

The majority of the materials used in the construction of Stellabration and its decorations are recycled, recyclable or biodegradable, shining a light on the importance of minimising waste during the festive season, when Britons create around 30% more waste. Each festive season, Selfridges reuses items from previous years for its windows and in store displays, such as artificial snow and disco balls. In this year’s Showtime! Christmas Windows props that have been given a second life include a giant moon, repainted by prop maker Matilda Greenwood, and Santa’s gold car which has been repurposed after featuring as Barbie’s car during a Corner Shop takeover in July.

Stella McCartney’s Stellabration at the Selfridges Corner Shop is open to the public from 11th to 28th December. Discover more at:

Introducing CABARET: The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges

In here, life is beautiful.

Selfridges London is set to welcome a scene-stealing world-first in collaboration with the record-breaking West End theatre production Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, opening 29th November 2023. CABARET: The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges will be a unique bar experience, where the seven-time Olivier award winning show takes over The Lounge on the fourth floor of Selfridges for the Christmas season.

Imagined by CABARET set and costume designer, Tom Scutt, this is the destination for grown-up festive celebrations that are flamboyant and dramatic in the centre of W1. Guests can enjoy a celebration menu of small plates and creative Champagne cocktails, wine and cuvées from Moët & Chandon, the show’s Official Champagne Partner, whilst enjoying cameo performances by the smash-hit production’s Prologue dancers at select moments throughout the day.

Costumes and archival pieces from Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club can be seen up close including the Emcee and Sally Bowles. Exclusive-to-Selfridges limited-edition Kit Kat Club merchandise, including Kit Kat Club Moët & Chandon tins, Sally Bowles gin by La Distillere de Monaco and Kit Kat Club candles by Cova London offer show-stopping gift ideas, too.

The producers of CABARET AT THE KIT KAT CLUB said: “Since our production of CABARET AT THE KIT KAT CLUB opened in London in 2021, both the musical itself and the pre-show entertainment that invites audiences into its world have been widely described as one of the greatest theatrical experiences in the West End. When we heard about Selfridges festive theme being ‘Showtime!’, we knew we’d found our perfect partnership, as well as the most brilliant space on their 4th Floor to take the decadence of the Kit Kat Club outside of our building for the very first time. The most unique theatrical experience in the West End now meets the most unique retail destination in the West End. We have really enjoyed collaborating with Selfridges to bring some real magic to the Christmas season.”

CABARET: The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges opens from 29th November for 5 weeks from 12pm – 10pm daily. Reservations now open for both counter and tables.

IT’S SHOWTIME AT SELFRIDGES!

Showtime! a festive and fabulous extravaganza across all Selfridges stores and at Selfridges.com launches today, Thursday 2nd November 2023.

This Christmas, Selfridges is inviting customers to a theatrical extravaganza loaded with festive drama and delight – Showtime!  The best gifts, partywear, services, destinations and experiences for 2023 are inspired by the glamour of the stage, in anticipation of the most spectacular Christmas in Selfridges history.

It’s curtains up for Selfridges world-famous Christmas windows, which have taken over 100 hours to install by a team of more than 50 people. The idea of true stagecraft and artistry is spotlighted here by the work of creative collaborators, including artist Max Allen, costume designer of the Christmas cast. With Selfridges, Allen has created an “ensemble” of Christmas characters who have become A-List performers in Showtime! The 10 characters, who each feature in an Oxford Street window, include Santa Claus himself as ‘Stage Director,’ a Christmas Tree Diva and a Stand-up Comedy Snowman. Every costume has been handmade in North London by Max and a team of product designers and embroiderers, working with fabrics from local haberdashers across the city. Characters wear hair by legendary hairstylist, Sam McKnight.

Selfridges has commissioned specialist painter, Queenie Ingrams who has hand-painted dazzling, decorative set-pieces, and prop artist Matilda Greenwood to create larger-than-life crackers, moons, snow mounds and stars. On Orchard Street, Benjamin Pollock’s Toyshop, one of the oldest toyshops in London, has shared archive imagery, reimagined using photo collage to create a series of dioramas that celebrate the fantasy of stagecraft. Visitors to Oxford Street become the audience to Selfridges OTT and high-octane Showtime! production, and the window at the corner of Oxford Street and Orchard Street invites them to applaud it, featuring moving curtains that open and close, a neon-flashing ‘Applause’ sign and gold roses that shower the stage.

In store, showstopping gifts and partywear for every personality – new, pre-owned, rented and refillable – have been carefully curated across all categories. Santa and his troupe of bow ballerinas and gift boxes are in-store and stage-ready from Friday 24th November to entertain customers. A line-up of DJs, singers and live performances ensure the atmosphere is electric, with bookable experiences and spectacle moments happening in London, Manchester and Birmingham. Link to bookings

Selfridges has always been a stage for creativity and this year, self-expression and spectacle are at the heart of the Christmas experience. On 29th November, Selfridges London is set to welcome a scene-stealing world-first from The Kit Kat Club. CABARET: The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges is an immersive destination where visitors can enjoy Champagne cocktails and cuvées from Moët & Chandon, the show’s Official Champagne Partner.
